Adopted on 29 May 2025
ON MAKING SUPPLEMENTS TO THE LAW “ON BANKS AND BANKING”
Article 1. Part 2 of Article 2 of Law HO-68 of 30 June 1996 “On banks and banking” (hereinafter referred to as “the Law”) shall be supplemented with the words “crypto-asset service providers,” after the words “investment companies,”.
Article 2. Point “p” of part 1 of Article 21.6 of the Law shall be supplemented with the words “, as well as electronic money tokens” after the words “and other securities of the bank”.
Article 3. Part 1 of Article 34 of the Law shall be supplemented with point 19 which shall read as follows:
“(19) provide crypto-asset services provided for by the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On crypto-assets.”.
Article 4. Part 6 of Article 36 of the Law shall be supplemented with the words “crypto-asset service providers,” after the words “investment companies,”.
Article 5. Part 2 of Article 43 of the Law shall be supplemented with point “e” which shall read as follows:
“(e) in case of placement of electronic money tokens issued by the bank, information in the volume and in the manner prescribed by the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On crypto-assets” and the regulatory legal acts adopted on the basis thereof.”.
Article 6. Article 61 of the Law shall be supplemented with part 4 which shall read as follows:
“4. The Central Bank shall apply measures of liability as prescribed by the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On crypto-assets” for violations of the requirements of legal acts regulating the market in crypto-assets provided for by Article 2 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On crypto-assets”, other regulatory legal acts adopted on the basis thereof, including the internal legal acts on providing crypto-asset services.”.
Article 7. Article 72 of the Law shall be supplemented with the words “crypto-asset service providers,” after the words “investment companies,”.
Article 8. This Law shall enter into force on the tenth day following the day of its official promulgation.
